The 2014 Texas Make It With Wool Contest

The 2014 TMIWW contest to be held in Brownwood November 22 at the 4-H Conference Center must be post marked by October 15th. That is one month from today!  Information and rules can be found at Age groups are:

  • Preteens, age 12 and under
  • Juniors, ages 13-16
  • Seniors, ages 17-24
  • Adults, age 25 and older

The category you enter will be determined by your age as of December 31 of entry year. Anyone regardless of race, creed or sex who meets age and other guidelines may participate. Contestants must select, construct and model their own garments. Made for others entries: the intended wearer must model garments. Fabric must test 60% wool. There is also Felted 3-D Art!

A serger sewing machine has been donated by Linda Treibs in memory of her mother Lillian Wissemann for the winner of the preteen division. Junior and Senior winners receive $100.00 and a full paid trip to National contest in January to Sparks, Nevada outside of Reno. Adult winner receives $100.00. Their garments are sent in for national judging and if they win they receive an all expense trip to National MIWW which takes place during the American Sheep Industry Convention Jan. 28-31, 2015 in Sparks. Everyone receives wool fabric from Pendleton Mills. The Mohair Council of America and Texas Delaine Association give additional prizes.

There are Texas Only competitions that included 3D Art Felting, Wearable and Non-wearable Accessories and Made for Others. Cash prizes are awarded and everyone receives a felted money change purse sponsored by Elizabeth Daniell Boutiqu in Comfort, Texas or Pendleton fabric.
