UNT SHINES AT 2014 ITAA Conference in Charlotte NC


The International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Annual Conference Design Competition held in Charlotte, NC November 12-16, 2014 announced awards at their Live Gallery Exhibition show on Saturday November 15th. The event was attended by over 500 Fashion/Apparel Educators, Students and Industry Professionals from the US and abroad. UNT was well represented in the awards ceremony with the following winners:

MFA Design-Fashion Design student Chanjuan Chen
Cotton Inc. Innovations in Cotton Design Award, 1st Place Graduate Level  ($1000) for her design Dawn
2014 Vinci Award for Excellence in Design Emphasizing Technology ($300) for her design Dawn

The top faculty award from Lectra for Faculty Designer went to UNT MFA Design-Fashion Design Alumna Linda Öhrn-McDaniel for her design Shaped by a Stitch the award is a weeklong trip to Paris to attend Premiere Vision a value of $3000. She also won the Cotton Inc. Innovations in Cotton Design Award, 1st Place Faculty Level for her design T-Shirt Dress. Ms. Öhrn-McDaniel graduated from the UNT MFA program in 2004 and is a tenured professor at Kent State University.
